Psychotherapy - Bilingual Licensed, Access Bars Facilitator

Achieving optimal emotional health sometimes takes work and assistance to overcome challenges. Psychotherapy that utilizes a holistic approach and combines it along with evidenced based practices can help individuals have a stronger connection between their mind, body and soul. Aligning these three areas can assist one in achieving a more purposeful and fulfilling life.
At the Northport Wellness Center, Erika Valencia is a bilingual licensed social worker presently working as Mental Health Therapist. Erika received her master’s degree from NYU Silver School of Social Work in 2016 and has been providing mental health services to individuals, families and groups within underserved communities for the past six years. Erika is certified in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) which is a relationship based intervention that helps children and their families heal from trauma. CPP allows the clinician to intervene so that the child and their caregiver can return back to baseline functioning through the reinforcement of safety within the dyadic relationship. Erika is in the process of being endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Specialist by New York State Association for Infant Mental Health.
Erika is also trained as an Access Bars Facilitator. Access Bars® is a gentle, nurturing treatment with similar effects to meditation. The technique involves lightly touching 32 specific points or “Bars” on the head, which correlate to different areas of the life. During a session, lightly touching these points can help reduce stress and trauma throughout the body and increase positive attitudes toward life.
Currently, Erika is the owner of MindFullyLife and continues to utilize her professional experience to help individuals and families overcome obstacles by discovering and strengthening their internal sources. Erika specializes in anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and coping, self-esteem, relationships, boundaries, identity journey and exploration, parenting challenges, mindfulness and spiritual coaching.
Erika’s positionality as a Latina immigrant influences her ability to work through a relational and anti-oppressive lens with the belief that the wisdom clients often seek through psychotherapy is in the hands of the beholder.
