Biography
Erika Valencia is a dedicated and compassionate psychotherapist with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve emotional well-being. Her journey in the mental health field began with her graduation from New York University in 2016. Since then, she has been passionately serving clients and continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and learning.
Erika Valencia's approach to therapy is rooted in a holistic philosophy that recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit. She believes that true healing involves addressing the whole person—not just the symptoms. This perspective allows her to create a personalized and collaborative therapeutic experience tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.
Therapeutic Modalities:
To provide the most effective and personalized care, Erika has pursued extensive training in a diverse range of therapeutic modalities.
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP): An attachment-based therapy that supports young children and caregivers in processing trauma and strengthening their emotional bond through joint sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): A widely recognized approach that addresses the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to promote positive change.
Trauma-Informed Care: A framework that recognizes the impact of trauma and prioritizes safety, empowerment, and collaboration in the therapeutic process.
Mindfulness-Based Practices: Techniques that cultivate present moment awareness to reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and promote emotional regulation.
Somatic Therapy: A body-centered approach that explores the connection between physical sensations, emotions, and psychological well-being.
Nervous System Healing: Our nervous system is the body's command center, constantly responding to the world around us. It has two main modes: the "fight-or-flight" (sympathetic) for alertness and action, and the "rest-and-digest" (parasympathetic) for calming and healing.
When we experience stress, trauma or chronic overwhelm, our nervous system can get "stuck" in survival mode, leading to anxiety, exhaustion, irritability or feeling numb. Nervous system regulation therapy helps you understand these responses and learn practical tools to gently guide your system back into a state of balance and resilience.
In addition to these modalities, Erika draws from a variety of other therapeutic approaches to create a truly integrative and individualized experience for each client. She is passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their inner world, heal from past wounds and cultivate a more fulfilling and meaningful life. She believes that everyone has the capacity for growth and transformation, and she is honored to walk alongside her clients on their journey towards healing and wholeness.
Mindfully life was born from a deep desire to contribute to a better world by empowering individuals to achieve emotional well-being and live more fulfilling lives. The organization offers a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, integrated with a holistic approach that honors the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit.
The therapists at Mindfully Life believe in the power of human connection and the potential for healing and growth that exists within each individual. Their goal is to provide compassionate, collaborative and effective therapy to help clients create a life of meaning, purpose and joy.
